The Basics

Walk, bike, or bus across the Golden Gate Bridge; sail or cruise the waters below it; or fly high above the attraction aboard a seaplane. Alternatively, combine your visit with sightseeing in the city; admission to Alcatraz; a half-day tour in Sonoma and Napa Valley; or hikes in Marin or on Angel Island.

Or, learn about the bridge’s history at the San Francisco terminus Welcome Center and explore other Marin County highlights such as seaside Sausalito, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and Muir Woods National Monument, home to Northern California redwood trees.

Totally would do it again!
Bikes were in good shape and had comfortable seats. Loved the bike route and the scenery of the bridge. Sausalito is a great little city to check out. There are some hills so if not in it for the exercise then get the ebike.

Golden Gate Bridge Guided Bicycle or E-Bike Tour from San Francisco to Sausalito
Wow! What an experience for this old fat guy from Texas! I was very hesitant about riding an electric bike on a 16 mile round trip over the Golden Gate Bridge! The Blazing Saddles employees were very helpful on getting us lined up with the bikes and safety helmets. John, our tour guide, was excellent. The ride by the shoreline and over the Golden Gate Bridge was a once in a lifetime experience fir all three of us! Worth the time and the expense. 👍👍

Golden Gate Bridge Guided Bicycle or E-Bike Tour from San Francisco to Sausalito
CJ was an informative and passionate tour guide. The eBikes made this trip a breeze for these 55+ yr olds. It was exciting to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge despite Karl the fog making himself known. Lunch in Saulsolito was relaxing and the ferry back was a perfect end to the trip!

Golden Gate Bridge Sailing Tour
The main attraction for me was the sailboat under the Golden Gate Bridge but what I got was much more than that! Even though my trip was at 9 am, the bartender, with really nothing ro do, was a laugh riot! The view under the beautiful sails was worth the early morning wakeup call. 2 Cebts: Dress warmly and get ready for a great time on the water.

Golden Gate Bridge Guided Bicycle or E-Bike Tour from San Francisco to Sausalito
A Must Do in San Fran. I was with my son who is 20 and my sister and we all had a blast. Loved hearing about the history of the city and riding over the Golden Gate Bridge. We chose to ride back from Sausalito instead of taking the ferry or ubering and it did put us out of our comfort zone but so glad we did it.

Golden Gate Bridge Guided Bicycle or E-Bike Tour from San Francisco to Sausalito
This was an amazing tour. The electric bikes are a must for a great experience. Our tour guide Jeremiah was awesome and very helpful. If you are booking during and post Covid ask questions. Ferry is closed, There is a cost for them to pick up bikes if you don’t bike back on your own. Also, bundle up if you are not use to cold weather 😊. Overall great experience

How to Get There

The San Francisco end of the bridge is located in the Presidio and can be reached from all parts of the city by car or public transportation. The bridge forms part of US Route 101 and California State Route 1—take any bridge-bound Golden Gate Transit bus to the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza. By car, take the last San Francisco exit, right before the toll plaza, and park in the southeast parking lot.

When to Get There

The Golden Gate Bridge is striking year-round, but the best time to visit is when there are clear skies and fewer people. Stop by midweek in the early morning or late-afternoon; alternatively, visit on weekend afternoons. Avoid June through August when the infamous San Francisco fog rolls in and blocks the best views both morning and evening.

Where to Find the Best Views of the Golden Gate Bridge

Capture the bridge in its entirety on a coastal walking tour through San Francisco’s Presidio, where you’ll spot beautiful bridge views from vantage points at Crissy Field, Fort Point, and Baker Beach. To snap a photo from the north end of the bridge, choose a tour that crosses the bridge to the Marin Headlands. While Vista Point is the most popular bridge viewing spot in Marin, it can get crowded with cars, so take a short hike toward Battery Point and Slacker Hill for sweeping views of the city.
