Guide coolya was engaging, interesting entertaining and showed us some great places to eat, introduced to some interesting people, especially guy on herring shop and the chocolate place hourgeous food. I would give 5 star for coolya and 5 for food we had but for the money would have expected more food, we didn't get pancakes or fries???? Be better to work way through meal starting voffe cake good but maybe have pancake and of fittest nr end with pud or choc to finish, just wasn't quite value in good xx

I am sorry to hear you would have liked more of it so we will look into this to see if we should serve more at the current 7 food stops. However this is the first time in 4 years we had this comment and we even warn our guests not to eat before the tour or book a restaurant after so we are a bit surprised I must admit :)

Had an amazing experience with Isabelle in the Jordaan area. A local with so much love for quality food / drink as well as Dutch history. The tour was a good small intimate size. We got great insight into Dutch history, their infrastructure, architecture, commerce, lows/times of poverty as well as golden age of Dutch prosperity etc. Foods tried - Dutch apple pie, Dutch cheeses, Amsterdam smoked sausages and deli meats, Herring, kibbling (fried cod) bitterballen, beers at 2 stops, chicken satay, and puffy pancakes. Since it was a Monday some places they normally take you to would also include stroopwafels. Weekends have more options. Either way absolutely loved the quality of the food and history / tour. Isabelle is also more than happy to direct you to anywhere you want to go, things to do, places to eat at etc. I recommend doing this tour early on your trip to get insider tips for the rest of your time in Amsterdam or even about other cities to visit.

My husband and I took the walking tour and loved it. We enjoyed trying the Traditional Dutch food as well as the entertaining history of the area. Our tour guide was great and was a real local. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Rudolph Kempers, from Amsterdam Food Tours, was an outstanding tour guide, funny and knowledgable. He brought us to great places to try food that locals from Amsterdam eat. A highlight for us was trying the herring and Indonesian food. Between the stories and the ample samples (Come hungry!), this walking tour is not one to be missed! Rudolph is a proud Amsterdam local who knows his history and his food!

Learn all about Jordaan neighborhood and Amsterdam history while eating amazing food. Made stops at all the best places and tasted everything Amsterdam has to offer. What more can you ask for? Lots of drinks too. Tour guide was pleasant and funny and you can tell he loved Amsterdam and it’s fine cuisine.

In March we visited 7 locations and sampled apple pie, herring, eel, cheeses, sausages & cheeses, gelato, bitterballen and poffertjes. A walking food tour was also such a great way to see and learn about the city. Our guide was Rudulph - who was very funny, engaging, and a wealth of information. He had to manage a group of 7 friends who wanted to sample the alcoholic drinks at many of the stops, and he was very accommodating of our party energy. I highly recommend this tour and I highly recommend Rudulph.

Rudolf was our leader, tasted a variety of foods and beverages, learned a little history and fun things plus got a peak into the immersive Renoir & Van Gogh expiation old church. One of the best tours we did in Amsterdam.

In addition to explaining the foods and their role in the Dutch culture, the local architecture, and the history of Amsterdam, Rudolf (who had been an art history teacher) provided us with a much appreciated lesson on Rembrandt’s ‘The Night Watch’.

Fun time exploring food, drink, & culture in Amsterdam!

We had a wonderful time with Rudolph as we walked around the Jordaan district and stopped at many local eateries. The tour size of 7 people (3 of us plus two other couples) was ideal and made it more personal. We loved sampling the wide variety of food and drinks that the tour offered. We especially liked sampling smoked herring and eel and learning the art of “worshipping gin”! All of establishments that we stopped at were well prepared for our group and were an integral part of our tour as they added in their perspectives and experience. Rudolph was very open to talking about life and culture in the Netherlands. We had many great discussions and learned a lot during our 4+ hour tour. There was plenty of food so we could only eat a small dinner that evening. We always enjoy getting acclimated to a new city with a food tour and this one did not disappoint. We highly recommend it.
