Not as advertised.

I don't recommend this tour. It was not as advertised. The tour driver talked about himself half the time. The picture of the moose was deceiving. The driver was 20 minutes late for the pick up.

The tour guide told stories of his ex girlfriend. Told “shrinkage” and “enlargement” jokes and chewed gum while he was speaking into his mic. Very unprofessional.

Chris did a great job talking about the wildlife in the park. He was very friendly and knowledgable. We did not see wildlife but understand that can be hit or miss.

Just Not Worth the Cost— For Us

I want to preface that we saw wildlife and our guide had a great personality, but this tour just wasn’t worth the cost. As a “wildlife safari” we pictured a smaller, open air car, but it was a mini bus of 20 or so people with steamed windows making it difficult to even see the wildlife. The tour also is listed as 2 hours, and it only lasted about 90 minutes with pick up and drop off. Additionally, the tour didn’t seem to leave the main roads of Banff and covered a lot of roads we had seen. If you didn’t have a car or needed a more accessible way to see Banff’s wildlife, I’d recommend the tour for you. However for us, it unfortunately wasn’t worth the cost.

We had an excellent safari! Our guide was full of stories and very knowledgeable about the local wildlife! I would recommend this early in your trip and you can explore those areas again for the opportunity to see more wildlife.

Saw some cool wildlife (big horn sheep, elk, deer). Wish we could see more wildlife but I realize they can’t guarantee where the wildlife will be. We saw more than I expected. Tyler was funny.

We saw an elk. We stopped at two scenic overlooks. There was some park history and conservation information given. The bus picked us up 15min after the stated start time. The bus was hot, especially in the back.

Bus was dirty and HOT. Driver was very knowledgeable. Windows were dirty. A simple wash would go a long way.

Quite an Adventure!

We had quite the adventure! We saw white-tailed deer, a bull elk, a group of bighorn sheep, a mama black bear with her two cubs, and a cinnamon bear. Our guide seemed quite knowledgeable and was very enthusiastic! Unfortunately, at the end of our excursion, he attempted a three point turn on the roadway and ended up stuck in a ditch, almost totally blocking the roadway in both directions. He was eager for us to get one last glimpse of the bears. It could have been much worse- as there was a steep ravine on the other side of the road. As the sun started going down, the mosquitos came out in full force while we waited for a second bus to come pick us up. We all made it back safely and have a great story to tell! It was so exciting to see such a variety of wildlife!

My fiancé and I are on our honeymoon and we are just amazed with how fun our experience was. Our guide Kelsey was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We spotted Elk, Deer, Mountain Sheep, a small cinnamon colored black bear cub, and a dark brown grizzly bear. Would recommend this if you’re looking for something fun to do in the evening!

Good nature tour of animals, area and sights of banff

Presentation by our guide was excellent. Saw elk, deer, long horn sheep. Viewing sights she took us to were excellent. She had good stories about the animals along with personal experiences. Biggest problem was bus was oversold. One of the bigger kids had to sit on their parent lap because on no seats.

Our guide, Eli, was kind and knowledgeable. He was also a very good driver and kept us all safe and comfortable. We were able to see several animals and cool sites around Banff. This was a great family activity for our group of 7.

Welp... you can't win 'em all. The weather, and subsequently the animals, weren't cooperating for my tour. All was not lost as our tour guide, Kelsey, was entertaining and informative. I could see how bummed she was that this particular trip was a bust. We got to see a couple of bull elk, which was cool, and a few mule deer. I would recommend this tour for the sites and info alone. If you go into this thinking you're going to see all sorts of animals, keep in mind Mother Nature will always have the last word.

Hi Bob, thanks for taking the time to write about our Evening Wildlife Tour. Glad you got to see a few big animals on your trip, and realized the value of going on tour with a guide. We'd consider that a successful tour if you can see Elk and Mule deer in a night. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Banff.

We had a fabulous time

What a brilliant couple of hours. Within 9 minutes we had seen a grizzly bear! Next up was a mountain goat licking the road for salt. Further into the safari we saw a mother brown bear with her 2 cubs and also a family of elks. We were buzzing when we finished the tour. I appreciate it's pot luck with wildlife but we had a great experience

Very nice driver and good...

Very nice driver and good stories about the area, but Wildlife Safari? Thought we would go to special locations in the park, not only driving along the official streets and highways. Very few chances to see the Wildlife. You can do it with your own car.
icon Response from Host , Jun 2022
Hi Janine, thanks for the feedback. Yes, you can certainly drive around on your own. The benefit of going with a guide are the stories they tell, interpretive knowledge and facts they share, chances to speak with a local person, not worrying about driving (if you h ave a vehicle) and best chances of seeing animals (we've been doing this a long time, and know animal patterns pretty well). Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff.
