Fall in love with the beauty of the Gulf Islands, San Juan Islands and Howe Sound on this half-day whale-watching adventure. Informative crew will share their stories and knowledge about the history of the area, industry fun facts and of course, the marine wildlife.

The tour departs from Granville Island, near downtown Vancouver. Step aboard the Salish Sea Dream, a 80-foot catamaran built for whale watching and designed to minimize its ecological footprint.

Have your camera out and ready as you scan the waters for different species of whales, as well as an array of seabirds and other marine life.
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, an alternative or full refund will be offered

The day started with not much expectations due to the mild drizzling rain when we started . Almost we travelled far into the see before we sighted first sign of whale. Then so many sightings and captin took us to many places when whale were sighted . Also on the way back we were able to see orca near the harbor . We enjoyed our trip.

We paid a lot of money to go on a whale watching tour that ended up taking about 5 hours and we never saw any whales. Additionally, the staff only gave like 3 updates about our journey and only pointed out other wildlife 2-3 times. It was disappointing.

Carrie_D, Thank you so much for your feedback. We understand it can be disappointing when you don't see whales. Since they are wild animals, they can be shy and elusive sometimes. We do try and stay out on the water for as long as possible when trying to get a good sighting as our captains are very eager, but in the end sometimes it's just not possible. This is why we offer our whale sighting guarantee, which allows you to go out again with us (just pay the conservation fee and tax!). The whale sighting guarantee never expires either. We do hope you will join us again, and that next time we will be able to show you a much better time on board!

seeing the orcas and seals the crew worked very hard trying to locate the orcas and when they came across a female orca and her two babies they were as excited as the passengers on the boat wonderful experience boat was very clean and all the crew were very friendly and informative

Incredible experience. Not just the possibility of whale watching, but how the tour is conducted. Free hot drinks, indoor and outdoor areas with great visibility, knowledgeable guides, a photographer present who sent professional photos through at the end of the day. Thoroughly enjoyable day - and we saw orca up close!

The journey was nice, very nice ship and crew very competent and they make you feel good. Only problem is that we didn't see much, 5 hour cruise and we saw a family of killer whales that make my day, but this was pretty much it.... Not a single whale....

What at an amazing experience. We were very lucky to see a mumma whale teaching her calf how to breach (not been seen in 2 years!) after we went on a lovely tour of the islands where we saw Seals, Sea lions, dolphins and a Bald Eagle. The staff were great!!

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean boat, trip ran to time, good choice of refreshments on offer. Only marked down from 5* as STILL awaiting email with link to photos from the day from their office and disappointed we only saw one whale, and even that one was from some distance. Also quite a costly trip to do.

Great Whale Watching Trip. We booked the whale watching excursion in Vancouver before we went. We were given accurate info and were well-prepared for the trip. The boat trip with Prince of Whales was outstanding. There were good seating options inside and out, and we saw several whales and had a great time. We appreciated the knowledgeable and interactive crew. It was a great experience and we would definitely do it again.

Not enough wildlife.

We hardly saw any whales we were out there for around 5 hrs. The best part on the way in we saw alot of orcas. Too expensive for basiclly a long boat ride.

Hi Ronald_L , We're so glad to hear that you spotted a lot of orcas, but sorry to hear that the rest of the tour didn't quite meet your expectations. It does take a while for the boat to cruise out to wherever the whales are located, but there's lots to see from the boat, including the spectacular coastal mountains, the ships anchored around the Port of Vancouver, and various marine wildlife (from seals to seabirds). Our crew also provides entertainment along the way, offering fascinating stories and insights about the scenery and local animals. However, unfortunately we can't control the activity of the whales and other wildlife, and it seems that they were a bit shy on the day of your tour. If you'd like to try again to see more wildlife, and the 5-hour catamaran cruise wasn't the right fit for you, perhaps you'd enjoy a shorter, speedier trip on one of our zodiac boats. The zodiac tours offer a more adventurous experience, with the chance to feel the wind and ocean spray as you zoom across the water to find whales. We hope you'll consider joining us for a different tour so we can turn your four-star experience into a five-star one!

Nice ship and friendly staff but a whale watching trip without whales can’t score higher. If you can’t repeat the trip until you see whales, think about it twice since your time and money won’t be refunded.

Due to this, we do offer our Whale Sighting Guarantee. This means you can travel on board again with us until you do see whales. This guarantee also never expires, and is good year round. The only thing you would be required to pay is our conservation fees, plus applicable tax. We hope you will join us again soon using your guarantee, and that we will be able to spot some whales for you!
